Pyranha Cup is a touring race, which can put you in various paddling terrains from jumping some weirs, through technical rapids, to flat water paddling, which is made more complicated by gates, where the perfect manoeuvrability is necessary. Therefore the ideal kayak for Pyranha Cup should be touring, fast, manoeuvrable, safe and comfortable. There aren’t many boats serving the purpose. They are either excellently manoeuvrable, but slow and they don’t keep the line, or they run straight perfectly, but you get stuck in the gates. They must be durable in jumps, which means neither composites nor slalom racing boats. A few years of racing have brought out the two best kayaks. Not by a chance are the both kayaks for Pyranha Cup made by Pyranha. They are older but pretty ingenious designs.

The boat for larger paddlers, which utterly meets the hard requirements, is Pyranha Master 2. Last year it was paddled by the first and the second men of overall results. The kayak is unbelievably quick, though it remains still pretty well manoeuvrable. Its only disadvantage is, that its production is finishing this year, so you are able to buy it only before it is out of stock, which probably won’t take much time.

The second boat meeting the hard requirements, designed for smaller paddlers, is Pyranha Acro 270. It is slightly slower than Master 2, but that is compensated by its excellent manoeuvrability and low weight. Last year it was paddled by the winners of K1 women and K1 boys categories. This kayak is still in production, so it is available in any amount.

Both boats are comfortable touring kayaks, forgiving mistakes, so except races they can be used for beginners’ training in clubs or for longer river trips.

These boats are also successful in Adrenalin Cup and Dolomittenmann. There aren’t nearly any other kayaks in those races, because those who want to succeed need the best boats.
